This 420-acre park is located in the heart of Issaquah and is a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. The park features 12 miles of hiking trails, a dog park, playgrounds, and picnicking areas. In the springtime, the park is blanketed with colorful wildflowers. And in the fall, the leaves on the trees turn a beautiful golden hue.
The parking lot can get crowded on weekends, so arrive early to snag a spot. Dogs are welcome in the park but must be leashed at all times. Be sure to pack out all your trash when you leave so that everyone can enjoy the park for years to come!
The trailhead access point is located on the north side of the parking lot. From here, you can access several different trails including the T loop, Rhododendron Trail, and supports an ADA accessible Kelsey Creek Bridge. The T loop is the longest trail in the park at 2.8 miles and takes you through a dense forest before opening up to large meadows. The Rhododendron Trail is a shorter 1-mile hike that winds through thick greenery and over a quaint footbridge. This trail is perfect for those looking for a peaceful nature walk.
To reach Cedar Falls, start from the south side of the parking lot and take the short 0.3-mile connector trail. Cedar Falls is a 40-foot waterfall that cascades over huge boulders into a pool of water below. It’s especially beautiful after a period of heavy rain when the waterfall is flowing at full capacity. Be sure to take caution if you’re planning on swimming here as there are hidden undercurrents present.
This educational center offers hands-on exhibits about local wildlife, displays about the area’s history, and live animals that call Kelsey Creek home. The Discovery Center also has” changing classes throughout the year which are listed on their website calendar . Admission to the center is free but donations are accepted.
